Vlog: MTV EMA Experience

Last Sunday it finally happened, we went to the EMAs! Even though we only got our tickets a week before, we were so excited and we couldn’t wait till Sunday! Our waiting has been rewarded because we had such a great time! Going to an award show is so different than going to a concert. The biggest difference is the fact that you’re attending a live television event! Being on live television is pretty stressful! Lisa and be spent hours of preparing and deciding what to wear and how to do our hair etc! You never know if they’re going to film you right? Luckily or unfortunately, it’s how you look at it, we weren’t filmed! It’s also very different because you’re not seeing just one artist, but there are so many celebrities attending that you can barely keep up! Honestly, it was one of the best nights of our lives! OK. Enough for the introduction, here a recap of our day/evening! It might be a long post but we are so excited to share our experience with you!

Lisa and I decided we were going to get ready together, basically because it would be easier to film the ‘Get Ready With Me’ video. We met at 2 pm and had a delicious pizza to prepare ourselves for the incredible experience we were about have! After the pizzas we quickly started to get ready. Although it wasn’t that quickly.. We wanted to be ready at 4 pm so we could pick up our friend Hezja and make our way to the venue. This turned out to be 4.30 pm, so we were half an hour late…

Thank goodness we made it to the venue just on time, since there was barely a queue when we got there at 5 pm. We were so happy to be so early because the queue quickly started to grow, around 6 pm the entire ‘queue area’ was completely packed! Finally, after two hours waiting outside (we were literally freezing) the doors opened around 7 pm! Once we entered the venue we were speechless… Did this really happen? Are we actually at the EMAs? It was literally a dream come true.

There was one downside though, we thought that the waiting was over… But in fact we had to wait for two more hours before the show started! However, we weren’t freezing anymore, there was music and everyone was just very excited so time passed by pretty quickly!

Once the lights went off and the show was about to begin, my heart, and I’m pretty sure Hezja’s and Lisa’s hearts as well, stopped and I got so enthusiastic and slightly nervous! It was a fact, this was reality and I think I couldn’t really believe I was going to the EMAs until the show actually started.

The show was so amazing, there were so many performances! It all started with an amazing performance from Miley Cyrus, at the time we were standing on the right side of the stage. Unfortunately, we couldn’t really see Miley perform. However, we could see Katy Perry’s performance! I have to admit, the performance looked so much better live, than on TV! I think it was just too dynamic to capture all the action on TV? The first part of Robin Thicke’s performance with Iggy Azalea was pretty visible for us, though the second part when he was sitting behind the piano wasn’t so much.

After we discovered that all the celebrities were sitting on the other side of the venue, which was where all the awards were handed out, we started our little journey towards the other side of the venue. Surprisingly, it all went pretty smoothly and we soon saw everything so much better! Now I could actually see the presenters and the award winners! This happened to be the place where Jared Leto waved at us! We still can’t believe it! Jared Leto!!!! Sometimes we saw a few celebrities sitting behind the ‘walls’. For example, Jedward, Louise Roe, Ellie Goulding and Ariana Grande.

I think it’s quite appropriate to say that all three of us got a mini heart attack when Miley Cyrus somehow appeared on a mini stage right in front of us! The big screen and the small stage literally appeared out of nowhere just a few feet in front of us! We were so, so happy that we moved from our original spot, because we wouldn’t have been able to see the performance at all! We saw Miley perform ‘Wrecking Ball’ from so close it was just amazing, I’m still speechless from just thinking about it!

Apparently, Miley’s performance wasn’t the only one that was going to make me speechless! After seeing Bruno Mars AND Eminem perform I just completely lost it. Savannah left the building. I still can’t believe that it actually happened? I get goose bumps just from thinking about it! I think that for me, these were the best moments of the EMA.

Soon after, we somehow ended up even closer to the stage and that’s when we saw Ariana Grande and Redfoo host the show! Ariana is so amazing! Redfoo wanted her to sing a tweet to him. My goodness that girl has such a beautiful voice! She just opened her mouth and the angelic voice came out, it was really amazing!

Our great night ended with a very energetic performance by Icona Pop and Redfoo invited us all to the 2014 EMAs in Glasgow! I don’t think we’ll all be going there though! Anyway I know that I am going to watch! After the show ended, we tried to spot some celebrities, but unfortunately they all left already.

We got out coats and we walked out of the venue in complete awe. I believe all we said to each other for the first minutes was ‘OMG, I can’t believe it, was this real?’ or something like that! Then we soon realised that we were so hungry and thirsty!! So we went to the overfull Burger King and after what felt like two hours we finally got to order our food! We also met another great friend of ours in the Burger King! She had such a great time as well, because she had tickets to the Red Carpet show she got to take pictures with so many artist! How amazing is that!

After we finished our meals we all headed home together, we could barely keep our eyes open during the buss ride! Once I got home it took me quite a while to remove all the bobby pins out my hair! I messaged Hezja and Lisa and I went straight to bed. Being the granny I am, I still am so tired from Sunday! I’m just not used to going out and staying up until late (or early I don’t know)!

I think I’m speaking for all three of us here, if I say that we had an amazing night and we will never forget this! We all have been dreaming about going to the EMAs since we were little and our dream finally came true! Hopefully this will not be the last time Lilly & Vannah attend such an amazing event!
